Different from the meditating community in Fairfield the ™ movement is a series of institutions that are corporations with sub-cultures. The University, the Maharishi School, Maharishi Foundation, the DLFoundation, Mother Divine, the Pundits, Purusha, The Global Country, with boards of trustees that do seem allergic to consensus process or transparency looking anything like democracy. Any meaningful progress ( ..The movement’s new policy on mental health, moving Bevan out of the Presidency, stopping the ‘meditation monitoring’ of the IAAssembly meditation) has been brought about by a good will in the meditating community in ad hoc processes extraterritorial to the colonial structure of what evidently is the corporate-colonial ™ movement. These particular Community Forum meetings in this thread started off ‘ad hoc’ by interested folks of the meditating community and seem now segwayed to being steered (co-opted) by the religious of ™. There is still a ‘process’ in it wringing out what has been done with these community forums. ..Process now to be determined in some processes like you are reflecting on. Actually your post on this is very helpful. When Maharishi was alive (10 years ago) TM was a theocratic guru autocracy. Fairfield,Iowa meditators and even Fairfield Rajas have very little policy say in how it goes with Super Radiance or the Dome Numbers in Fairfield. Being a meditator in TM is very colonial in relationship to the ownership of ™. This is being wrangled around in cultural process now. The ad hoc processes have been very much like ‘committees of safety’ formed in earlier colonial times. There has yet to be a ‘Continental Congress’ of meditators formed. I would see the tory colonialists of TM having a thumb on how that will go. They have the institutions, the meditator practitioners do not. The most that meditators have is their confirmation in attending or not. The metrics do tell a story. I hope you will come to visit Fairfield, stay and meditate for a while. A lot of people are gone right now to warmer places and India. The population here noticeably increases by March, April and May with Spring’s return . Most of us Transcendental Meditationists carry on here and make Fairfield our year-around home and spiritual community. Twenty seven people came together to begin the discussion of what we want to support, develop and create in Fairfield for people as they live and age and move through end of life care. A very organic, largely volunteer level of care has been happening in Fairfield all along…many people generously, compassionately coming forward to care for others as the need arises. This will continue as it should! The interest here is to see people generally planning ahead and see to areas that could be better coordinated in order to serve more people more effectively and see fewer people “fall through the cracks” in receiving the care they require and better support primary caregivers. Relying on government services as they continue to be slashed and dismantled on state and national levels is not as realistic in the coming years. This is a time to create what we want.
