Hi Pete, i only setup farcry online one time as a test case to check
if it worked out on shared hosting, eventually it did. Can you share
the new error?
Most problems i had where due to likely wrong image paths and not be
able to write folders if they not yet exist, all due to the shared
hosting environment.
So i didn't solve all problems yet but for instance created the
folders manually.

Also because of a time limit at hostmysite on the shared hosting, you
can't install with the wizard and uploading larger files is not
possible, but that are of course hosting related issues.

Right now i was focusing on how to create plugins (as you noticed) and
how to create a site from scratch without the mollio design, so now i
head back to setup on line, we might help each other here.

Eventually i plan to use a VPS package at hostmysite which enables you
to setup everything in right order and without any restrictions.
Before that time like you said it's a good idea to document the
specific shared hosting issues so in the future it will be more clear.

I heard earlier in a posting from Geoff that they are almost never use
that type of "standalone on shared hosting" config, which is also the
reason there is indeed a need for additional info and support in that
area. So you're not thinking to hard but it's a unchecked,
undocumented area which needs someone to go through and document :)

All the info about the banner plugin can be read here:
http://docs.farcrycms.org/display/FCPLUG/Random+Banners+(wsoFarcryBanners)
As i am a rising CFM star :) any feedback from a veteran will be much
appreciated.

Funny that you come from a situation regarding Joomla and due to
limitations are searching for a coldfusion CMS, same story here :)
Also, joomla is so uncontrolled open source that most of the times you
are busy with correct problems made by various and different plugin
developers, also my php is not that good that i can check everything
out.

So what can i say, locally using farcry, setup live one time with
success, understanding the limitations and issues yet to overcome with
the shared hosting setup, seeing the possibilities and examples of
successfully deployed websites, personally i go for it. I don't know
sava and for now going for Farcry.
