That is true, Deborah. In general, in-line XML datasteams will affect 
performance if they make the object's FoXML file grow past ~30k. In the 
next release you will be able to store the system datastreams like DC 
and Rels-Ext as managed content so that won't be a problem anymore.

It is true that the DC datastream was designed to be the minimal data 
that a repository manager needed to run her repository, and the Basic 
Search that uses it was intended for that purpose, not to be exposed to 
end users.
