I seem to recall being told that the absinthe legalized in 2007 was not the "true" absinthe...that something was missing, so it didn't have quite the same effect on people. Well, the US and many European countries had banned absinthe until recently. Sure, it's been making a huge comeback, but, for example, true absinthe has only been legal again in the US since 2007. So, personally, I've just not gotten around to trying the stuff. :) But then, I'm also not a huge spirits fan. I like rum and a bit of whiskey, but I've not tried a wide range of either.
