Hello,

Seen as we have discussed Scotch I was wondering what would be the most appropriate vessel to drink it from? A short tumbler I would assume, but they come in lots of different designs. Are these only for aesthetic reasons or like champagne flutes and red wine glasses do the designs serve a purpose? Does it at all depend on what type of Scotch you are drinking, or if it is perhaps a whiskey instead?

For those wondering: Flutes should be smaller at the top than they are where the surface of the champagne sits as it helps trap the released gas, keeping it bubbly for longer. Red wine glasses are meant to be large and shallow to help aerate the wine.

Cheers,
    Nick
