Yeah, I understand, but we're talking about building Felix which is not 
a massive complex highly coupled process or anything.

The same kinds of problems occur on Unix boxes too.
Put a couple of Solaris machines together and you need
three sys admins to keep them running and at least
one heavily bribed provisioning expert to ensure there's
always coffee and fresh milk in the fridge.
