I would not do it unless I saw more than one large study done that proved it's
value
in at least 80% of the cats used in the studies. Like I've said many times
before, I
don't believe in the FELV vaccine at all, any normal adult cat will develop the
immunity against FELV in time anyways, so the vaccine is, IMO, worthless,
because
it's only doing what time would do to begin with. In addition, with the
increased
risk of VAS with the FELV vaccine, it's just NOT worth the risks to vaccinate
ANY cat
with the FELV vaccine. Period. Giving the FELV vaccine to a cat that already
HAS FELV
is doing nothing but increasing the cat's chance of getting a VAS (vaccine
associated
sarcoma). I will keep this stance until proven otherwise by scientific studies.

The only time I advise for any cat to get the FELV vaccine is if the negative
cat is
going to be directly exposed to the FELV virus (like if you know you are going
to mix
a negative young cat with a positive one), and the cat is under 1 1/2 years
old, and
there's NO way to prevent the exposure. (really, not the case very often)

Also worth saying again, ALL vaccines should be given as low as possible in the
rear
leg, in case a VAS develops, that way amputation can be done, and you can save
the
cat's life. Never ever ever ever allow your vet to give any vaccine in the
scruff of
the neck or back, or along the side of the cat's body where amputation of the
injection site would not be possible!

I collect KMR kitten formula labels for Bazil, a 3 yr old special needs cat who
must
live on a liquid diet for the rest of his life.
Bazil's caretaker collects labels and sends them to KMR, where they add up
until she
earns a free can of formula!
PLEASE save your KMR kitten formula labels for Bazil!

If you use KMR, even just one can, please ask me for the mailing address you
can send
them to, to help feed Bazil!
