Hi James, hi Timo, I am fully in favor of both of you reviewing pull requests yourselves. That said, there are other areas where we also need people to step up. For example, someone should go through the YesWeHack reports, and someone should mentor the GSoC students who submit decent patches. Mentoring means talking with them, explaining what they should do differently, and helping them improve. They are humans, and as far as I know they are willing to engage and adjust how they work. I do not think we should dismiss them out of hand without first trying to work with them. If I am wrong about that, who has actually tried? More broadly, I do not think any human in this project currently has the time or capacity to do all the work that needs to be done, or even close to it. So I think we need to do several things in parallel: * bring more people into the FFmpeg team * move toward a more Linux-like development model * attract new contributors, including younger people for whom AI tools are simply normal * get FFlabs to fulfill its promise of supporting the FFmpeg community * make use of any genuinely helpful support we can get, including Fairy If the concern is mainly the way Fairy writes messages, that is adjustable. She is writing in the style I asked for, and I can change the prompting. If the tone feels too assertive or too strong, I can try to make it softer and more neutral. That is just a matter of adjusting how the messages are generated.
