New Hampshire Sheep and Wool Festival, May 10 & 11,2003. This is the
27th
annual festival hosted by NH Sheep and Wool Growers Assoc. Among other
things there is a full scale national points Dog Trial that goes the
entire weekend, lots and lots of vendors, free demonstrations that range
from giving your sheep their shots to raising fiber bunnies to
introduction to llamas, a judged sheep-to-shawl contest, fleece judging
and fleece sale, individual 2-3 hour special topic classes, and a lot
more that I don't have room to list. Event is located at the Hopkington

Class: Creating Knitted Surfaces With Energy
Instructor: Kathryn Alexander
Description: Use yarn that still contains the energy that is produced
when fibers are spun to re-make traditional knit and purl stitch
combinations.  Stockinette stitch turns into a cross-hatch surface, a
herringbone, or even a rib. Spinners will enjoy this class as they can
use  these techniques to knit directly off their bobbins.

The festival returns to the May Fair grounds on Saturday, July 26th,
2003, from 9 A.M. to 10 P.M.  Craft and fiber booths, classes,
competitions, animal exhibits and, as always, a variety of great food
celebrating the lamb industry and the rich agricultural heritage of the
region. This year's live entertainment will feature music and
performances from many cultures including Basque, Spanish, Greek,
