I guess he's saying that the expansion of the gas as it leaves the nozzle could cause adiabatic chilling of the air to the point that moisture condenses out and rains on your film. It's a beautiful and logical theory which isn't a problem in practice, though who knows, it may be if you scan in the rainforest where humidity is absurd.
