Dear folks,

I have been following this very lengthy thread and have just a few
observations to make: I have been using Finale since Version 1.0. If
you look at my list of compositions on my web site, you will see that
about 85% of it is choral or vocal music, so I've been entering
lyrics in Finale for over ten years. Some time ago I settled upon
Type Into Score as the fastest, most error-free way of lyric entry
for me. Typing into the Lyrics Edit Box takes much more time, since I
then have to decide how to enter the lyrics into the score later. For
one thing, the size of the words in the Edit Box is very small and
hard for me to read. I've found that it's best to wait until all
entries have been made and the layout has been done before entering
lyrics. Fewer problems will result if I enter all the lyrics for the
upper-most part all the way through, then move down to the next part.
In places where the lyrics are parallel (or involved in canonic
imitation), I use Clone Lyric. When there are repeated sections, I
use Click Into Score, since the notes are already there. I know that
the Lyric Edit Box is likely to have strings of words out of order,
but that doesn't concern me. The only editing in the box I do is to
correct spelling errors. I've had no real problems for years with
lyrics - only spacing problems, and I have a number of tricks to deal
with them. I would really hate to have to learn a new system, and I
know it would be disastrous for updating older files.
