Certainly, but usually Midi files are compressed with Stuffit or a Zip application before sending. A Midi file received by email might standardly be played by one or another of the QuickTime based apps, but the opening application can be mapped to Finale (or whatever).


If the e-mail program won't run the media player, then he can save the attachment as a regular file and run it from the folder it was saved to.
Yes. But saving it to a movie makes it a little more convenient for a general audience. I think it would be most desirable for him would be to have an MP3 rather than a Midi one (contained in the movie) but perhaps his OS is too old to have the conversion features the now come with a stock install.
