When you create it, just drag it from right to left rather than left to right. Existing lines can be switched simply by dragging one endpoint past the other.
Incidentally, you can do the same with hairpins -- there is no real need to have two tools anymore.

True, but productivity would suffer a bit if you only had one tool for hairpin dynamics. (e.g., scrolling to the end point when you are already at the starting point of a hairpin would be a pain.)
