Short answer: I keep one hand on the CTRL-D function almost always. Or when using the mouse, a quick right-click-drag of 1 mm redraws automatically.
Longer answer: I have experimented with various video cards and have seen some differences as to how they deal with redrawing things. Take for example ties. With an NVidia graphics card, while dragging a note with a tie attaches, the tie would redraw constantly, making it very comfortable to test different tie settings with different note distances in real time! Now, working with a Matrox graphics card, dragging a note with a tie attached results in a smeared or even broken tie until redraw is manually initiated. With dragging and nudging text around I have found similar differences. But I am sorry to say that I have no conclusive results. I like the quality of the Matrox signal, and so I traded the nice quick redrawing of the NVidia for the quality of the Matrox image (with drag smudges in high quality) Liudas ----- Original Message ----- From: "Herman S.
