Another factor, which cannot be underestimated, is to become familiar with OS X in general so as to take advantage of it. For instance, adapting to a new emailer, backup mechanism, becoming familiar with the layout and organization of the file system, or finding out which things replace assorted utilities that would have been used on OS 9 takes time.


I've been very much aware of that, and frankly scared to death. When I got my present computer I leapt from System 8.0 to 9.2, and _System 9, the Missing Manual_ proved invaluable. Is there an equivalently useful book for OSX?
