The OS9 Finder compensates in two interdependent ways: one is that when you click on a window, all windows for that app come foreward. One can argue the pros and con of this, but it does make the Expose functionality less necessary, especially when combined with the other OS9 compensation: the application pulldown in the upper right corner.

ASM version 2.1b5 from Frank Vercruesse ($15.00) brings the Application Menu back. Works under Panther with a few restrictions (primarily that Hide All is grayed out). Here is its VersionTracker URL:

It brings all of an application's windows to the front when the application is selected. (Under Jaguar at least, I don't know about Panther but I assume it would work the same way.) I (quite literally) find it almost impossible to work on an OS X computer that does not have it installed.

I never really feel at home under OS X unless I also have Classic Menu ($10.00 from Sig Software) installed. IMHO it is the best and most trouble-free of the Apple Menu replacements, and a great place to store commonly accessed folders and programs without littering the Dock. The OS X Apple Menu is untouched and Classic Menu only makes itself known when you mouse over a certain portion of the Apple Menu icon (hard to explain but very easy to use).
