Just to clarify: The first technique (like the Note Position special tool) moves just the one note. The second technique moves the entire beat position, so that anything else at that rhythmic position within the measure, on any staff, will also move.
For dragging a note in Speedy, note also that you can constrain to only horizontal (or only vertical) by holding down the shift key.
