My thumbball's scroll wheel would not work until I downloaded the drivers for it. Once I got the driver, I could scroll horizontally and vertically.

Happy to hear that, so to speak. Because I also followed advice and downloaded so-called intelligent mouse software. Finale is the only recent Windows program that won't scroll. Quite annoying. If you do find a solution, please let us in on the secret.
