I'm replying to my own message, since I just figured out how to scroll horizontally in FinWin -- the combination is CTRL-SHIFT-wheel.
I wonder if on Macs you need the CMD-SHIFT-wheel combination for horizontal scrolling.
Sadly, no. In Fin2004, horizontal scrolling with the scroll wheel is not possible no matter what keys you hold down.
Finale has otherwise been pretty good with implementing standard OS X conventions, so it's disappointing they dropped the ball on this one.
