With most devices (at least under Win95 and Win98) I have found that going to device manager and removing the driver completely before trying to install a new driver is the best way, rather than simply trying to install a newer version on top of an older version.

With a Logitech wheel mouse on WinXP, vertical scrolling always worked fine
in Finale, but not horizontal. Installed newest mouse driver, no scrolling
of any kind in Finale (continued to work in other apps). Reinstalled old
driver, now both vertical and horizontal scrolling work in Finale
(ctrl-shift +wheel for horizontal). A significant productivity boost!

I just uninstalled the "Intellimouse" software recommended by someone (I don't recall who) to solve the scrolling problem, uninstalled de latest mouse driver and reinstalled the old driver that came with the mouse, and at least I get the vertical scrolling I never managed to have with all the recent drivers and software.

One small question: did you uninstall the new software befoire reinstalling the old one?

Thanks, anyway, for the tip.
