<x-tad-bigger>I was wondering if there was anyone out there who does song transcriptions for songwriters ie transcribed by ear from an mp3 or a cd. What do you generally charge $$$ in your location/country.</x-tad-bigger>

I usually charge an hourly rate (CDN $40 per hour) for the take-down, and usual copy rates to put it to Finale. Sometimes I can set a flat fee per page, according to how many verses there are, and if the scan changes from verse to verse (in my book, a sign of good craftsmanship if the scan is very close, and cheaper for the client, too) ranging from $40 per page to $60 if the tune is complex/lots of verses/ scan or melody changes/anything else that might eat up my time. If the client can supply a lyric sheet in the form of a computer file, this reduces the cost, as I don't have to type lyrics in that case.
