Sorry for this rant. I just need to vent. I bought AlBook1.5GHz to replace TiBook800 on my mobile rig. MakeMusic won't give me an extra install. I have been exchanging emails with them for a week, and I see we are not going anywhere.
In my studio, I need every available CPUs to distribute DSP stress across. When I need quick notation fix with Finale, I look for one the least stressed CPU at the moment. This is why I need Finale installed on all 4 machines. They gave me one extra, but not the 4th one. I am a royal customer who have been upgrading since version 1.0. On top of that, I even paid full for Windows version separately for my wife (interestingly they never suggested to use the second install of the Win version). Since having Finale on my new AlBook is more important, I guess I can give up one on TiBook800, while it will be the one I will be needing for Finale when all the other CPUs are occupied for distributing DSP on my studio work. I just don't understand the two-install policy. We paid for license to use as a single user. In the software business, you pay for license but not to product itself. Why limited to two-install? In old days, PACE floppy auth let you un-auth to move it to another computer. MakeMusic auth via Internet. This means auth is machine specific, probably reading the MAC addr (tho I can't check this since MAC addr on Mac, unlike PC, won't change unless motherboard is replaced), and I just don't understand what they are limiting the install count on me for after I proven all of these CPUs belong to me. -- - Hiro Hiroaki Honshuku, A-NO-NE Music, Boston, MA <http://a-no-ne.com> <http://anonemusic.com> _______________________________________________ Finale mailing list [email protected] http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale
