I pivot my wide-screen Dell quite often - whenever I am working on a full orch score, or even a mid-sized combo. It is also great for perusing full scores on line (such as at the IMSLP library).

It only takes a few seconds to do. I only wish the screen background pic would change automatically. I have some vertical and horizontal Renoirs sized for each, but sometimes I don't take the time to change it. Right now "A Girl With a Watercan" is all squished and chubby.

Honestly, you'll never use the pivot. I have a Dell 22" that can pivot (I
really don't know of any that cannot), but I never use it that way. I can
see all of what I want on it no problem.
I'd suggest looking for something that is high definition. Dell Monitors are
generally rated really high. Apple's monitors are nice too. Something with
DVI on it. You don't want VGA as you'll lose resolution. There is a big
difference.

Also, you might want at least 24". The prices are good on them. The leap to
30" is still rather large (like twice the price of a 24" monitor).

Friends...
One non-crappy outcome of the flood at my house is that I get to upgrade
some of the equipment that got washed away.

I want to replace one CRT I had with a 21-22" or bigger LCD monitor with
pivot capability so I can see a full orchestra or band page--in portrait
orientation--at a decent size and use my existing monitor to view K2 or
other stuff.

What should I look for? Avoid at all cost? My only criteria are 21-22" or
bigger and pivot capability. I don't need other fancy addons. Thanx in
advance for any advice.
