Any reason I shouldn't recommend it to a friend who wants to post a few

As long as he doesn't mind the possibility that others can edit his music.

He might consider Musescore, which is also free and also a pretty powerful program, which resides on your computer, where you store your files. Then he could print to PDF and put that up on his web-site to share.
