Well, if you make PDFs of your Finale examples instead of EPS, and make sure that your PDF settings include all fonts, you can later open the PDF in Illustrator and edit the text. PDFs can also be placed in InDesign as links.
- export pages (not selections) from finale in EPS (include tiff preview, include fonts, allow transparency)
I'm not sure how transparency plays into all of this, or how that works with PDFs.
