No, that won't do the same, since it works on regions only (and on everything in the region), not on selective handles.
you can selectively change element X to Y and not have it affect everything, use "change selected artic / expression to:"
i have also done the same essentially by deleting B and replaceing in all instances in the score with A (defined before doing this step).
i usually leave "t" as a "temp" metatool taht is never permanently assigned but is used when i need to do a few instances of quick changes in different parts of the score. set it, make changes and reassign "t" the next time i need it.
