The flipping fermatas happens in lots of places. I stopped at 2011 and am on Windows, so don't know about this particular fermata flip. I almost never use the underside fermata anyway, so have disabled the 'flipped' version of the standard one and have a separate flipped one for occasions when I really need it, which is almost never.
