Just tried this with a file originally created in Fin2006.  All the parts
were listed in score manager but none in "manage parts", as expected.

Is it not just a case of clicking "generate parts" to create a new set?

I appreciate that this will lose any formatting changes you've made to your
original parts, which is a pain to say the least.  I hope someone else can
come up with a better solution.
