Well, therein lies the bottomless pit of my query.
True, Fink created /sw and subfolders , however no
"usr" folder is there nor in the /bin folder. Additionally,
in osx's applications folder there is no Xdarwin (or new applications or folders)
nor will Sherlock find it.
As far as startx go this is what terminal returns:
Welcome to Darwin!
[cdm-115-074:~] scmarcos% startx -- -rootless
xinit: No such file or directory (errno 2): no server "X" in PATH
Use the -- option, or make sure that /usr/X11R6/bin is in your path and
that "X" is a program or a link to the right type of server
for your display. Possible server names include:
XFree86 XFree86 displays
XDarwin Darwin/Mac OS X IOKit displays
XDarwinQuartz Mac OS X Quartz displays
XDarwinStartup Auto-select between XDarwin and XDarwinQuartz
giving up.
xinit: No such file or directory (errno 2): unable to connect to X server
xinit: No such process (errno 3): Server error.
[cdm-115-074:~] scmarcos% sudo
usage: sudo -V | -h | -L | -l | -v | -k | -K | [-H] [-S] [-b]
[-p prompt] [-u username/#uid] -s | <command>
[cdm-115-074:~] scmarcos% startx -- -rootless

This problem is somewhere in my installation of Fink.
It could be my mac...but I think not. If it is...well we know
the pain involved there. I'm talking reinitialation and installation from scratch.
A linotype-helle imagesetter repairman once told me
the principle KISS (keepitsimplestupid) was taught in their
training classes.
I'm sure the answer is staring me in the face.
If I can provide more info I'd be very happy to do so.
Thanks
Deal
