Who cares? You have a G4 with a gig of memory! But seriously, you can best tell by downloading Fink, installing X and some apps, and checking it out. If you don't like it, you can delete/uninstall it. With regards to my comment about slowness: I have used Gimp. I would say it is usable at home, where I do not have Photoshop nor the noney for it. However, my work owns Photosho (where I also have a slower G3), so I don't use Gimp there. Also, I expect everything will get better as the programmers improve stuff. With regards to writing code: you don't have to write any. The most I've had to do is figure out where a resource file was and edit it. And you can get the nabobs to point the way. (Complex's little chunk of learning for today: If you middle-click on the frame of an X-window, you can drag it around. The default middle-click in XDarwin is option-click. This is wonderful for moving windows whose title bars are under the menu bar. Now I can delete all those buggers!) hth --c ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _______________________________________________ Fink-beginners mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/fink-beginners
