Basically true, but check the version of your's. The recommended version is the most recent Dec 2001 release, which is only available online. It's free, but membership is required..

The requirement is July 2001 version updated with August 2001 Update (due to the dependency on GCC 3.1).

I hear that things are little slow using fink
would this be slow on my G4 450
My machine is runs on G3 256MHz. Yes, KDE programs are rather slow, especially at startup. But I have no serious slowness irritatin with other programs.
