Hello,

I reported problems with X11 installation yesterday
("cannot install xfree86 on Intel").

As it seems that I got some kind of installation for X11,
I just tried to look what happens if I try installing
some application which needs X. I tried calcoo,
xmms, xemacs, gnuplot. Nothing got installed with
different error messages, but these messages all
had the following in common:

---------------
Sorry, but the following packages have unmet dependencies:
[...]
  xfree86: Conflicts: xfree86-base-threaded
Conflicts: system-xfree86 but 2:4.5-2 is to be installed
  xfree86-shlibs: Conflicts: xfree86-base-threaded-shlibs
Conflicts: system-xfree86 but 2:4.5-2 is to be installed
---------------

This seems to indicate that I had to install another xfree86 version,
namely, xfree86-base-threaded. So in any case, I have to remove
my current installation?

Cheers,

Zina
