Unfortunately, "no packages to install" is the catch-all message for
either an attempt to install (a) package(es) that do(es) not exist in
your enabled Fink trees or for an attempt to install (a) package(s) that
is|are currently installed at the latest known version.

I should have asked _what_ you were trying to install when you got "no
packages to install". If you're trying to install a package that only
exists in the unstable tree, and you don't have that turned on, then
you'll get that message. Try "fink configure", activate unstable, then
"fink selfupdate" to download the unstable tree package descriptions.

I'm not 100% sure what's all fixed and what is still needing repair in
the KDE 3 chain. It's possible that quanta may work. If not, and if
you're using a 32-bit setup, I know of a possible workaround.
