It does "depend" on dlcompat, because of our policy... Fink policy is "if it finds it, you must depend on it". The (unattainable :) goal is for everyone to have the same deb file.


I really do not think that it's realistic to ask package authors to
think about possible interactions between their package and every
other Fink package, current or future.

Well, we all handle it just fine. :) It is not hard to look at what your configure script is checking for, and add deps for those things. Though of course, you do need to be aware of what is added to fink, in case something is packaged later.
