Hello all.
Personally I deem the help.php one of our little horror pages. I would
like to restructure and update the page a bit since the project has
grown so much in the last few months as it seems.
Section:
"<b>Documentation.</b>
The <a href="../doc/index.php">documentation section</a> of this
website has a bunch of useful documents.
Naturally, those documents are a work in progress and many are
incomplete, but they're definitely helpful."
Will most likely be updated to something along the lines of:
The documentation section of this website has a bunch of useful
documents already. We are always looking forward to receiving more
valuable documentation. Since Fink is a voluntary effort we depend on
your help to accomplish this. If you feel that writing documentation is
something you would like to do for the Fink Project, please let our
<mailtolink> documentation maintainer</> know.
- -----
section:
"The FAQ.</b>
Common problems and their solutions are documented in the <a
href="../faq/index.php">online FAQ</a>."
Will most likely be kept with the following addition.
"If you have noticed a Frequently Asked Question somewhere which has
not been covered yet, please let our FAQ Maintainer know" This would be
a mailto to reflect Alexander Hansen`s mail.
- ----
The "User Mailing List" is somethign I would like to remove completely
from the "help.php" pages. Why? Because to me help.php reflect how
people can help US, not the other way round. The mailing list is most
likely, in 90% of all cases, meant to help the user.
Same goes for the rest of the page.
I would like to split this into:
"Where to go to get some help"
- -------------------> Documentation
- -------------------> Mailing Lists
- -------------------> IRC
"How you can help the Fink project"
- --------------->"How to report bugs"
- --------------->"How to post patches"
- --------------->"How to create packages"
Of course this somewhat results in a rewrite of the help area. Please
let me know what you think, thank you.
- -d
- - Face me and you shall surely perish.
