After more thought I agree, no need for this, just thought it'd be nice (no pun intended). But just to clarify I was gonna add it to run_script that is where the env clean (set_env) is called. Anyhow that is two marks against this feature so I've trashed it...I'll just renice when I forget to nice :P Just nice when I'm at work trying to work but I still want to update-all in the bg.

I'm about to add nice support to fink, I was thinking of a global nice
value in fink.conf like

NICE: (-20 - 20)

and then a CLi option for it like

fink -n (-20 - 20) install bundle-kde

if no nice value then nice = -20 and I whould set the nice value on
the shell that fink starts in the clean env area. Any comments,
objections??

Sounds like an interesting idea, but why couldn't people just

nice +5 fink install bundle-kde

instead of needing a setting within fink? Not that we can't have more
than one way for a user to do things...I don't know how much
redundancy is too much. Perhaps the useful mod would be to have fink
apply its setting to the *Script but not to fink itself. If I say
"fink build foo", I'd want to know ASAP what else is going to be
built/installed/etc, but then let the compile phase get niced down.
