I agree with dmacks that using options to ls is better than piping through cat.
On your other system, go to http://fink.sourceforge.net/ and download fink-0.7.1-full.tar.gz, or whatever the latest release is. Copy this to your home directory on the Mac using scp.
It would be best if this didn't require another computer. Two solutions:
1. Tell the user to check out fink from cvs.
2. Have a link to LATEST-FINK that the user can get with curl (SF's mirror system makes this hard).
One final note: In addition to going on the website in the standard layout, it might be useful to have this guide available as plain text.
