First off, I have no idea whether the Fink package has been around for  
3 years.

Even if it is has been around that long, we don't move packages to  
stable based on "how long" they have been in unstable. For all I know,  
the package could have been there for 3 years and been broken during  
all that time, only nobody tried it resp. nobody reported the issue.
