I would think the easiest way to manage such a transition would be to keep gcc4X as name for the pkg containing the symlinks _ as all current deps on "gcc4X' are presumably just for the symlinks. Else, you'll have to correspond _ and wait for responses ! (sigh..) _ with a number of pkg maintainers...
