Thanks to both respondents.Chris's very simple rename did the trick, 
and dosen't cause much problems, since when and if i use g77 I can 
easily modify makefiles to have the path.  For Fortran however, I 
still find Absoft is worth the money,as more and more programs either 
are f95 or f90 or have extensions to f77 related to these.
