Yes, it has nothing to do with X11. I have a new version in CVS with a workaround for the problem with the LANG environment variable. Users who have LC_CTYPE or LC_ALL set to something else than "C" will still have the bus error, but LANG can be set to whatever one likes without producing the error.


Unfortunately, the problem is rather deep. Scribus is using functions from the Qt library in some C++ constructions that are not guaranteed to work. They work on Linux (the main platform for Scribus), but AFAICT rather by chance, and they don't work on Darwin. Unless either Scribus or qt3 undergo some profound fixups, we will have to live with a not-so-perfect workaround.
