Even if there's still dependency problems in evolution, you don't need to mess around with PKG_CONFIG_PATH--I was able to install it by just installing the packages that gal199 was complaining about.

Some time ago, I was able to build earlier versions of Evolution with fink. I decided to try this again and I ran into some gnome library confusion. Evolution requires many gnome packages and a configure for gal199-1.99.10-4 fails about here:

My first thought is to install libgnomeui2 and try to adjust the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable as advised. Has anyone seen this error. Does my plan to fix sound ok?
