I didn't receive any reaction to my questions below. Unfortunately I can still not use xmms. I don't have any clue what might be wrong and I would appreciate any help or advice. Thanks.

I saw this problem in several messages on this list. But no solution yet. I tried the tips given, without success.
I reinstalled xmms using binary and then all plugins were gone, as well as the visualisations, effect and general etc. So then I removed xmms and reinstalled it by building the package myself. Build went fine (xmms 1.2.8-1) no problems. But again: no plugins, no output, no input, nothing!
This also happened with the version in the stable tree: same thing.
So my conclusion is: xmms is definitely broken!!
Please give this problem your attention. Thank you!
