Fresh install on a G5 of:
- OS X 10.3 + software updates
- Xcode + update 1.1
- X11 + X11SDK
- Fink binary 0.6.2

When trying to selfupdate fink or trying to compile
a package from source this error
appears: (example,
compiling simple package aalib)

checking host system type... powerpc-apple-darwin7.3.0
checking target system type... powerpc-apple-darwin7.3.0
checking for gcc... gcc
checking whether the C compiler (gcc -L/sw/lib) works... no
configure: error: installation or configuration problem:
C compiler cannot create executables.
### execution of ./configure failed, exit code 1
Failed: compiling aalib-1.4rc5-22 failed

The compiler works fine and is gcc3.3 (as supplied by xcode).
Is fink trying to compile a non ppc-
executable? It looks like people having upgraded from 10.2
or from older versions don't have this error.
Only fresh installations do have it.

Any suggestions?
