Historically this has been associated with using a Developer Tools version that doesn't match the operating system, but that shouldn't be the case on a new G5.
The Developer tools are not installed when a new G5 is shipped. I did not look carefully enough at the DVD's which came with the system and used an earlier Xcode disk I had which was then upgraded from the Apple site.
When I used the G5 developer tools every thing works fine. Thanks, Alexander.
I just went through a similar problem with a new PowerBook G4. I installed XCode 1.1, which was the latest that I had installed on my G4 Dual. It didn't work, with the same error message as the original poster. I downloaded XCode 1.2 and everything works fine.
