Hi Folks:

Apologies in advance if this turns out to be a latex issue rather than a fink-specific one.

I've been using Latex to typeset chemical formulae. While in the middle of writing a final exam, I decided to update fink, and Tetex was updated to 3.0

Now I am no longer able to typeset chemical equations. Normal math equations still work, but I encounter an error when using the following preamble with the last two directives:

\documentclass[11pt]{article}
\usepackage{geometry}
\geometry{letterpaper}
\usepackage[parfill]{parskip}
\usepackage {chemarr}
\usepackage {pictex}
\usepackage {m-ch-en}

Here's the error:

(/sw/share/texmf-dist/tex/latex/parskip/parskip.sty)
(/sw/share/texmf-dist/tex/latex/oberdiek/chemarr.sty
(/sw/share/texmf-dist/tex/latex/amsmath/amsmath.sty

                                             \newdimen\!!deptha
?

The documentation in /sw/share/texmf-dist/doc/context/ppchtex/mp-ch- en.pdf states

"The file m-pictex takes care of an efficient loading of PICTEX. This is necessary because LATEX allocates a lot of \dimens. Because of the userinterface a big version of TEX is needed
to run PPCHTEX. "

I have no idea what "a big version of TEX" means, but this worked in the 2.x version and not the current one. Is there something I can do as a user, or do I need to change something and recompile?

Thanks.

Bill Scott
