I also have a working PowerBook G4 with Leopard (10.5.8) and Tiger (10.4.11). I never seen these effects. But I'm also using XQuartz 2.6.3 now. (But I had spectacular effects on screen with an earlier version, X Org server 1.7.99.2, end of 2009.) Alexander, if you have problems with XQuartz 2.6.1, then you should open a ticket here: http://xquartz.macosforge.org/trac/newticket. Or search first among the existing bug reports. Jeremy Huddleston is very capable and fixes problems sometimes in no-time. I won't install gimp2, it's a bit too big with all its dependencies, but I could try to install meld. Here you can download the final Leopard release: http://xquartz.macosforge.org/trac/wiki/X112.6.3 -> http://xquartz.macosforge.org/downloads/Leopard/X11-2.6.3.dmg (http://xquartz.macosforge.org/trac/wiki/Releases). The only alternative to XQuartz is xorg-server or xorg-server-devel (XQuartz 2.7.2) in MacPorts. -- Greetings Pete "Indentation?!
