That's what I see here as well. In the series of packages pygtk2-gtk-pyXY you can find pygtk-demo which shows this also (Application main window, Button Box, ... – interestingly the Stock Item and Icon Browser and Tooltip demo show the icons OK). I think the Images demo even shows the bad background in the lower image. And I am seeing this in MacPorts' XQuartz 2.7.2... But when I build py27-gtk in MacPorts its pygtk-demo displays everything OK. So it's not a bug in XQuartz but one in Fink. Or the interplay between Fink and X11.
