I certainly think you/we should tackle non-uniform grids before looking into completely unstructured meshes. Other than that someone should just go for it when they have the opportunity. No need to coordinate. Another possibility is that we actually get together to work on this at least for a few days. It's a good way to focus on finishing something and producing better code .
