*I use the set up tabs all the time to change buddy names and rearrange
my lists.
*I put all my IM windows over the buddy list anyway, so it doesn't
really waste any space. And the width doesn't really become an issue
*By far my biggest issue though is that I dont think 20 buddies will fit
in a menubar-sized bar at the bottom of the screen.
However, despite this, I think it is a very good idea. It would make it
easy to message the few people you happen to be speaking with at the
moment, and see when they send you a message. I think is enough other
people like it, then it should become an optional feature that you can
turn on or off. I also think it would be nice if you could drag a buddy
from you buddy list into the bar, and drag buddies from the bar off into
oblivion (a la dock icons). This way I could use the buddy bar for the
4 or 5 people that I happen to be talking to.
This is just my opinion though, and I don't have any objections to it
being added as long as the old buddy list stays and I can turn the bar
off if I want to.
